Privacy Policy for Max

Last updated: March 17, 2026

Scope

This policy applies to the Max mobile app. It does not apply to this website. For information about data collected on this landing page, see our Website Privacy Notice.

Overview

Max is a workout tracking app with optional accounts and cloud sync. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when it is shared with service providers, and what choices you have.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Email address and password if you create an account with email
  • Account details returned by Apple or Google if you sign in with those providers
  • Workout, routine, exercise, settings, and progress data you choose to create in the app
  • Support messages you send to us

Information collected automatically

  • App analytics events, feature usage, timestamps, and device or platform metadata
  • Identifiers used for analytics, feature flags, authentication and sync
  • Diagnostic and operational logs related to app and sync

How Max Works

Local use without an account

You can use core workout tracking features locally on your device without creating an account. If you stay local-only, your workout data generally remains on your device unless you choose a feature that sends data to our servers or processors, such as AI.

Account, sync, and cloud features

If you create an account and enable sync, workout data, routines, exercise data, settings, and related records are synced with our backend so they can be restored and used across devices.

How We Use Information

  • Provide workout tracking, routines, analytics, sync, and account features
  • Authenticate users and manage sessions
  • Operate product analytics and feature flags
  • Maintain service security, prevent abuse, and enforce rate limits
  • Debug, improve, and support the app

Third-Party Services

We use service providers to operate the app. Depending on how you use Max, these providers may process data for authentication, sync, analytics, and feature flags as described in this policy.

Analytics and Identifiers

We use PostHog for product analytics and feature flags. Analytics in Max are not always anonymous. If you sign in, we may associate analytics events with your Max account identifier and, where available, your email address so we can understand feature usage, manage feature access, and diagnose issues.

Our app is configured to use PostHog's EU host, but other service providers we use may process data in other countries depending on their infrastructure.

Permissions

  • Notification permissions are used only if you enable reminders or timer notifications

Data Sharing

  • We do not sell your personal information
  • We do not share your data with advertisers for targeted advertising
  • We share data with our processors only as needed to operate the app
  • We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the app and its users

Retention and Deletion

Data stored only on your device remains there until you delete it, remove the app, or reset local data. Synced account data is retained until you delete your account or we no longer need it for the purposes described in this policy. Some logs, billing records, and processor-held records may be retained for a limited period for security, operational, legal, or financial reasons.

You can request account deletion from within the app. Deleting your account removes your authentication account and associated data that is tied to it in our backend, subject to any limited retention we need for legal or operational reasons.

International Processing

Depending on the features you use, your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data protection laws.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
